Welcome and Disclaimer

I will be upfront and admit I am a bit of a Luddite. I refuse to buy a cell phone and I don't follow social media. I think life is already too precious and short to waste time on such things. However, I do admit that when I encounter a good book, I tend to google the writer to see if they have written anything else, so I see the utility of a website. I will try my best to post something at least once a month on topics that interest me--things like hiking, reading or playing the 5-string banjo. You will note that I particularly like reading travel narratives, so I plan to feature some of my favourite books and to draw attention to a few newer ones that I think you might enjoy as well. I promise not to write too much about myself. I do not find myself all that interesting, and I suspect you would not either. That said, I hope you will find something to enjoy in these posts.
