Banjo Friday 5

I want to feature another banjo duet this week, although I don't want you to get the impression that banjo duets are a common thing. They're not. (Although, back in the early twentieth century, banjo orchestras were quite popular). This week's selection features Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn. Fleck is one of the stars of the Newgrass movement I mentioned in an earlier post, and he has taken the banjo to some interesting places, from bluegrass into the realms of jazz, rock, classical and world music. He has also won 15 Grammy Awards. In 2009, he married Washburn, another accomplished banjo player, and their self-titled album of 2016 won the Grammy that year for best folk album. Here is a selection from that album, written by Fleck, called "New South Africa." Enjoy:
